This course is delivered from a “common sense” approach to hospitality, and students will gain the skills and knowledge of communication, customer service, basic bar operation, basic workplace health and safety, bar, and menu knowledge and waitering skills.
Classes will be held both in the classroom and in the workplace (for practical lessons such as basic bar operations).
A strong focus will be on building the student’s confidence, as well as their language, literacy, and numeracy skills.
Assessment will take place in an informal manner based on what learners are able to achieve. Customer service, bar and waitering skills will be assessed based on practical observations and role playing.
There is no formal written assessment for this course.
Learners complete a pre- and post-program learner survey to self-assess their knowledge, skills and confidence levels
A “Certification of Participation” is issued upon completion of this course.
