This course will give you an understanding of the Victorian Liquor industry, benefits of responsible service and harm minimisation, duty of care and your legal responsibilities. and dealing with problem patrons. Learn all the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to a safe and enjoyable environment in licensed premises.

REQUIREMENTS:

You must be at least 17 years of age to complete this course.  Note that you will not be able to work in a licensed premises and serve alcohol until you are 18 years of age.

PATHWAYS:

Pathways might include employment as a bar steward or further study such as SITHGAM022 Provide responsible gambling services.

COURSE CONTENT:

This course is Nationally Accredited and applies to anyone working in Victoria where alcohol is sold or served, including all types of hospitality, tourism and events venues, packaged liquor outlets and wineries, breweries and distilleries.

The training is face-to-face and covers the following:

  • How to recognise and professionally deal with intoxicated customers and underage persons
  • Creation of safe and social atmospheres at venues
  • Liquor licensing requirements of staff

Compulsory Unit:

  • SITHFAB021 Provide responsible service of alcohol

ASSESSMENT:

You will be assessed on active participation in the class room, including group activities, role plays, question and answer, scenarios, as well as a written assessment.

CERTIFICATION:

Once the course has been completed, you will be:

  • issued with Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for SITHFAB021 Provide responsible service of alcohol
  • email a certificate number to create an account on the LCV Learning Hub, where you will be required to complete the Sexual Assault and Harassment: Recognise, Prevent and Respond module to download your LCV RSA Certificate of Completion (valid for 3 years)

Interstate competency card holders

Please ensure that you disclose any prior interstate RSA training or certification prior to enrolling in our course. If you hold a current RSA certification from another State or Territory (delivered by an RTO that delivers the ASQA nationally accredited RSA training), and are moving permanently to Victoria you can complete the online Bridging course by going to https://liquorportal.vcglr.vic.gov.au/rsa_refresher/BridgingCourseApplication.aspx.
