Need to develop and extend your literacy skills?

This course is designed to engage low literacy learners in activities and learning to develop and extend their literacy. No computer skills are required; however, the course will work on some computer-based learning programs. Learners will be assisted with computer-based work.

COURSE CONTENT:

This course will support learners with low literacy skills to recognise, understand and use commonly used words and phrases applicable in their everyday lives and their workplace.

Classes will include access to computers for activities and learning, board games, group discussions, etc to deliver learning in a less formal manner.

A strong focus will be on building student’s oral communication skills, numeracy skills (including basic maths and money skills) and reading skills.

ASSESSMENT:

An initial language, literacy and numeracy assessment will be conducted with the student during their first lesson, and again at the end of the course to show progression.

Learners complete a pre and post-program learner survey to self-assess their knowledge, skills and confidence levels There is no formal written assessment for this course.

CERTIFICATION:

A “Certificate of Participation” is issued at the completion of this course.
