Equipping young people with the skills they need to thrive

Youth Engagement Program

Thanks to funding from the Department of Families, Fairness, and Housing, YMCLC is proud to have established the Youth Engagement Program.

Students in this program have been referred to the program through Yarrawonga P-12 College and are eager to engage with the local community. Participants will volunteer in the community garden, growing fresh produce while learning about FoodShare operations.

The goal is for students to support FoodShare volunteers and help extend the FoodShare open hours in the future. The program has a strong focus on building participants’ literacy and numeracy skills, and has been designed to boost resilience and self-esteem, equipping young people with the skills they need to thrive.
